I love photography. To capture a specific moment of time and turn it into a lasting memory.
I also love kids – which is a very good thing considering I have three of them. I love their imagination and ability to play without fear. The worlds they create are vibrant and beautiful and it is an absolute joy to be included during stylized shoots.
At two and half years old, my firstborn would not stop moving. This made getting a decent photo of him nearly impossible. His imagination was beginning to grow, and I decided to make us both happy by planning a photo shoot that focused on playing. Filling a storyboard up with ideas, I did a lot of planning before so when we arrived on location all we had to do was use our imaginations.
By designing a cowboy styled shoot I created a fun environment for him to explore. He got to play with new toys, kicking up dust as he raced his stick pony. The Yakima River Canyon was a breathtaking background as he rode his spring horse.
My son had an unbelievable time during his adventure. For a few hours I had provided the world that he imagined and as he explored I captured his journey.
What is a styled shoot?
Styled sessions begin with a moment of inspiration. Your child’s favorite book. The movie that plays on repeat at home. A song. An era. A feeling. Share your muse with me and together we will develop it into your child’s story.
Through the use of props and wardrobe/location choices, your child’s make believe world starts to become a reality. And when they arrive to the session I will be there to document that wonder in their eyes.
This child of mine will not be so young and innocent forever. Already he has doubled in age and is testing his boundaries. He is growing up, and these images of his cowboy days will always be a precious reminder of his childhood.
I would love to hear about your child and what inspires them. Shoot me a message (click here: Let’s Chat)and let’s start creating his/her dream today!
